Interact me by Karl Larson
New Media Installation, 2009
Memories (images) are the foundation of this art piece. The abstract field of colours that becomes a rag carpet where the data will only appear if the spectator becomes an active part of the work. The memories becomes a flickering diary. And the active viewers become a film editor out of images and edit it into a stop motion film without any known end. When you make a film that is out of images instead of any narratives, the images becomes important and the actual "movie" out of it less important. In the original version the sounds are randomly chosen and edited and approximately 5000 miniature images in the small abstract "rag carpet" on the screen. In each of them there is a sound that will play when you move the mouse over the miniature, and a big image shows up on the right hand side. In the original version 58 166 pictures.
